Seit 1989 ist Mader freischaffender Keramiker und Plastiker. Der Künstler wirkte seither nicht nur als Architekt und Keramiker, sondern auch als Restaurator und Landschaftsgestalter - es scheint ihn zu reizen, was immer irgendwie kreativ zu formen ist. Den Schwerpunkt aber bildet die Plastik; in Maders Atelier im thüringischen Hohenfelden nahe Weimar entstehen Skulpturen, die bereits in mehr als 150 Ausstellungen national und international präsentiert wurden.
