Immer wieder projizierten Künstler ihre eigenen Vorstellungen zum Mythos des Minotaurus, dem griechischen Fabelwesen, halb Stier, halb Mensch. Im Mittelalter wurde die Erzählung in der Fassung von Ovids "Metamorphosen" rezipiert und illustriert. Dantes "Göttliche Komödie" thematisierte diese Figur ebenfalls. In neuerer Zeit befasste sich Friedrich Dürenmatt damit, und Picasso schuf zahlreiche Grafiken zu dieser Thematik. Paul Wunderlich fügt nun eine weitere Interpretation hinzu.
