Der Wiener Großmeister des Phantast

Der Wiener Großmeister des Phantastischen Realismus, Ernst Fuchs, und der amerikanische Maler und Bildhauer Joseph F. Askew kennen einander bereits seit Mitte der 70er Jahre des vergangenen Jahrhunderts. Askew machte sich damals kaum 25-jährig als Student an der Art Students Leage in New York auf den Weg nach Wien, um bei Fuchs die Maltechniken der alten Meister zu erlernen, die Fuchs bis heute wie kaum ein anderer beherrscht. Askew und Fuchs blieben Freunde, ja wurden langjährige Nachbarn: Der Amerikaner lebte fast anderthalb Jahrzehnte in Wien und zog - wie auch Fuchs - später in den kleinen Künstlerort Castillon an der Riviera, wo er bis heute lebt und arbeitet.
