Ben Willikens, geboren 1939 in Leipzig, studierte an der Akademie für Kunst in Stuttgart bei Heinz Trökes Malerei und Grafik. Trökes machte ihn auch mit der Bauhaus-Lehre vertraut, und so wurde Willikens für seine streng komponierten Raumbilder bekannt.
