Robert Witzke stammt aus Gnesen (Gniezno), dem Zentrum des mittelalterlichen Polens, und lebt heute in Berlin.

Sein Weg zur Bildenden Kunst verlief eher ungewöhnlich: Als studierter Pädagoge arbeitete er mit Jugendlichen und vermittelte ihnen viele Jahre lang auf der Grundlage seines eigenen Interesses für Zeichnung und Malerei künstlerische Techniken und Stile. Erst viel später wagte er sich an eigene Arbeiten – die aber gelangen nicht zuletzt aufgrund seiner souveränen Maltechnik so gut, dass er bald in Berliner Galerien ausgestellt wurde.

Noch heute führt Witzke als Bildender Künstler eine berufliche Doppelexistenz. An die Stelle der Pädagogik ist jedoch ein Beruf getreten, bei dem vor allem sein exakter Malstil gefragt ist – Witzke ist Bühnenbildmaler im Filmstudio Babelsberg.
