The native Argentinian Elena Gatti, born in 1950, lives and works in her home in Mallorca. Inspired by Mediterranean landscapes she paints atmospheric, light-filled images. Times it's the mild morning light that soaks her pictures, times the harsh midday light or the shimmering heat, the freshness of the blue sea or playing with the shadows. Elena Gatti immediately captures the mood in her pictures. Intense and often with light flirrendem Mediterranean magic. Also she turns in her works like one of "the most important subjects in art history", the still lifes, to. She not leave it for the presentation of silent, motionless objects, but attempts to develop the still lifes and to make the experimental to the fore: the development of forms, colours, light and shadow, as well as new perspectives and perceptions of people and objects. The message of her painting is very subdued, mostly with a hint of melancholy, but the dignity, beauty and immortality of the human resonates in her pictures.
