Oskar Kokoschka was a painter, graphic artist and writer is an influential leader of expressionism. He studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts and was influenced by the art of Vincent van Gogh, by Ferdinand Hodler and by the artists of the Vienna Secession to Gustav Klimt. At the time of National Socialism was his art as "degenerate", so that he at first fled to Prague and later lived in exile in London.
