Der herrlich geformte Kanopendeckel

Der herrlich geformte Kanopendeckel in Gestalt eines Frauenkopfes mit breitem Halskragen diente zum Verschluss eines großen Kruges. Insgesamt vier dieser Kanopen aus Calcit wurden für das Begräbnis der Königin Kija, einer Nebenfrau des Echnaton, hergestellt. Aus unbekannten Gründen wurden sie in späteren Jahren - bei Abänderung einiger Details - anlässlich der Bestattung des Semenchkare wiederverwendet, so dass als Fundort die letzte Ruhestätte dieses Herrschers im Tal der Könige zu benennen ist.

The beautifully shaped Canopic cover in the shape of a woman's head with a wide collar was used for the closure of a large jug. A total four this Canopic jars of calcite were made for the burial of Queen Kiya, a concubine of Akhenaten of. For unknown reasons, they were reused in later years - when amendment some details - on the occasion of the funeral of the Kv55 so as location is the final resting place of this ruler in the Valley of the Kings to call.
