In 1844 Prisse d'Avennes travelled from Alexandria to France, where he Three years later the monument egyptiens (Egyptian monuments) published. This volume contains 51 tablets, the drawings are based on, he had made during his time in Egypt. After a further stay in North Africa in 1860 he returned again to Paris,With the fruit of his numerous trips in the baggage: hundreds of Foliozeichnungen, photographs, sketches, maps, and 400 meters to bas-reliefs. Fascinated by the symmetry, complexity, and opulence of the Egyptian and Arab art, he relied on these huge wealth back to collections of art and architecture to create, in his research into the historical, heSocial and religious context as well as into its investigations of original documents. 1878/79 Appeared in Paris under the title Histoire de l'art egyptien (History of Egyptian Art) his full compendium, which contains 159 impressive tables on the Egyptian art.
