Der Orang-Utan ("Waldmensch") lebt auf Borneo und Sumatra. Als Menschenaffe ist er, so berichten einer frühen Ausgabe des Brehm zufolge die Einheimischen, den Menschen so ähnlich, das er sogar sprechen könne. Er täte es aber nicht, um nicht auch arbeiten zu müssen... Unser Exemplar ist eine Arbeit des Berliner Holzbildhauers Claus Spies, der die bedächtige Klugheit des "Waldmenschen" perfekt trifft.
