Der international bekannte Künstler arbeitet zwar mit fotografischen Vorlagen, mit simplem Abbild-Realismus haben seine Werke jedoch wenig zu tun. Die zuvor erstellten Schwarzweiß-Fotografien werden von ihm sorgsam arrangiert, bis die Körperhaltung seines Modells und der Faltenwurf ihrer Kleidung, ja bis jedes Detail exakt seinen Vorstellungen entspricht. Auf dieser Grundlage fertigt Kissmer in aufwändiger Detailarbeit fotorealistische Ölgemälde, bei denen er sich Schritt für Schritt an die "Wirklichkeit" hinter dem Abbild heranarbeitet. Das Ergebnis sind Bilder, die das fotografierte Arrangement hyperrealistisch übersteigern - und die, als farbiges Ölbild, sehr viel näher, genauer und vor allem lebendiger wirken als es eine bloße Fotografie je könnte.
