(1909-1981)HAP Grieshaber was a thoroughly political artist, the heart throughout his life was the subject of reunification. In all this visionary and artistic strength he moved into position. This truly distinguishes his work. His work is especially for the reinvention of the woodcut. Like no other artist after the second world war, he dealt with this as German media, in which the Expressionism found its completion. There, he became creator of large woodblock prints of mythological, religious or politically engaged content out, in which he depicted people, animals and plants in abstract forms. He cut his feelings in wood with full force. Intermediation of structures has shaped humans Grieshaber and his work at the same time. The graphical style typical for Grieshaber is heavily influenced by medieval woodcut technique. Typical is the often pflanzenhaft reciprocally established concentration of the graphical form, which does not exceed the limit to the Nonobjective.
