Geboren wurde die Idee 1998: In Zürich fand die erste Cow Parade statt. Künstler gestalteten lebensgroße, bemalte Kühe aus Fiberglas. Die größte Parade mit über 300 Kühen fand 2000 in New York statt. Inzwischen haben die kunterbunten Pop-Art-Objekte zahlreiche Metropolen in der ganzen Welt erobert. Soziale Einrichtungen profitieren, denn am Ende der Ausstellung werden die Original-Kühe versteigert und der Erlös gespendet.
