Fritz Winter (1905–1976) ist einer der bedeutendsten westfälischen Künstler des 20. Jahrhunderts. Er hatte das Glück, seine künstlerische Ausbildung am Bauhaus zu erhalten. Seine Lehrer waren u.a. Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky und Oskar Schlemmer.

Nachhaltig von der Moderne geprägt, konnte Fritz Winter seine nicht-gegenständliche Bildsprache immer wieder modifizieren. Es entstand ein eigenständiges Werk, das in einer tiefen Beziehung zur Natur als inspirierende Kraft wurzelt.
